Beans, beans and more beans!

Hi Everyone,

Just another reminder to help yourselves to the French Beans growing in the central circle, we have been managing to pick them once a week but this isn't really enough to make sure we put them all to good use.

They are planted to grow up the sweetcorn so you have to look for them a bit in amongst everything - but be assured there are lots there! There are also Canellini beans, these are larger and have red speckles on - you can either pick these too or they can be left to use for dried beans.

If anyone feels like lending a hand to keep the weeds down in amongst this area your help would be much appreciated.

Enjoy!

Janet

French Beans Galore!

Hi Everyone,
Please feel free to help yourselves to the French Beans that are growing in the central community growing circle, our Mencap group came and harvested lots yesterday but they are only here every fortnight so won't be able to keep up. Please leave any squashes for now as we hope to do a end of season harvest for those.
Thanks and enjoy.

Community Growing Spaces

Hi Everyone, great to see you have started to use the blog, more importantly great that it has started raining again after such a dry Spring! On the down side the weeds are all desperately trying to catch up too.
Although this year we had a business partner come to help us planting up the community growing spaces, next year we would like local groups and organisations to use them. If you know anyone who may be interested in finding out more about this offer please put them in touch with me.
Thanks.

New Allotment and New to Lode!

Lovely blog.

We are moving into Lode over the next few weeks and have already snapped up one of the last allotments. Looking forward to experimenting next year as I've never had an allotment before!

Our Plot

Our courgettes are now mini marrows, after a little bit of laziness! Oops!
I always get excited when everything starts to come through, some of our potatoes are ready, we've just pickled some beetroot, already had lots of lovely broad beans, and the lettuces and cucumbers are well on the way!
Although the weather this year has led to some slighlty stunted plants compared to last year, we're still getting a good amount of veg coming through! :-)

My patch

My allotment is producing courgettes faster than I can eat them! Also beans, spinach, swiss chard, lettuces, tomatoes, and what a pleasure it is to dig my own potatoes. I have quite a few herbs and would be glad to contribute some to the communal patch.
